A turbulent atmosphere left me no choice except to shoot some prominences on todays sun.

Hi Alan. Very nice image. What equipment did you use? It looks like you managed to block out the entire chromosphere rather than just using a standard HA filter setup.
I was out this morning at 6:30am (couldn’t sleep). I figured a nice walk before the automotive traffic polluted the air would be nice. As I’m trotting along something caught my eye. Off on the right about 30° off the SE horizon was the most stunning gibbous moon on a sea of pure dark cyan. It was floating over a cluster of budding maples so the framing would have been immense if I had the equipment to shoot it. Later I found out this was the Lyrid meteor peak. I should have been out there after midnight. 8-} It was crystal clear till I got home around 7:30.
