There are so many factors that go into solar astrophotography. It is understandable that very, very few people try to do it. Wind, heat, humidity, seeing conditions, and solar activity are just the start. Knowing how to capture the images is another factor. By which type of recording device, and finally how to process them.
There are many amateur astrophotographers out here who have dedicated hundreds of hours crafting their techniques to show off their prize images. They have earned it!
I have been chasing the “solar holy grail” for over 5 years now, going down many roads only to find out there are very few that actually lead you to where you want to go.
So, I just wanted to share with any budding solar astrophotographers there is a prize at the end of the road. But the road is a rocky one. Enjoy the journey, it’s frustrating, but the rewards are great! Stay with it!
Here is my latest solar prom image from April 26, 2011. Good Luck and have fun!
