I was at Brainard Airport for a short while this morning when I saw the MetLife blimp being moved around this morning so I figured it was ready to lift off.
Several minutes later the blimp positioned itself into the wind and was off like a shot! Here’s what it looked like.
Since its conception in 1987, the goal of the MetLife Blimp program has been to
increase awareness of the company. Focusing on providing aerial coverage of high
profile events, “Snoopy One” and “Snoopy Two” cover over 80 events annually for
NBC, CBS, ABC, ESPN and TGC.
I sent out a tweet about what I saw, and within a few hours got back a reply from the “Snoopy 1” saying that I had got a nice picture of them taking off and they were enroute to Bethesda, Maryland.
After checking out their MetLife Blimp tracker I found out they were going to the AT&T National Golf Tourneyment, at the Congressional Country Club.
Safe flight guys! See you soon flying around the state, but now I can track you!
