This summmer has been great for storm chasing around Connecticut. I have gotten some great cloud/storm/lightning shots over the past month or so.
Today, a strong storm cell was heading towards Hartford just as I was leaving work.
As soon as I left the building I saw wonderful billowing clouds to the west heading our way, but overhead an unexpected sight.
Mammantus clouds forming above me! I grabbed my camera and shot a few frames and then called our meterologists in the studio to let them know what was happening. Geoff Fox answered and had master control turn our roof cam to the sky and got some great images for the 4pm weather.
Here’s what I got of the Mammantus Clouds! Something right out of a Harry Potter movie!
