I had a short window of time last night to get out there and try to get a shot of Comet C/2009P1 Garradd. I set up in my dark sky location which has a great view to the west and south, so I had no problem in finding it in Hercules at a magnitude of about 7.2. It's the green fuzzy in the picture. Not really much to look at, but still another comet in my album! It … [Read more...]

ISS Fly Over October 17, 2011
It was one of those beautiful autumn evenings, perfect for imaging the International Space Station which was doing a close fly over of Connecticut. The closest it got was 411km. Just after 7:18pm it made it's appearence coming out of the south west gaining altitude quickly. Kids of all ages marveled at looking at the almost full "Hunter … [Read more...]

Several weeks ago I returned from a vacation of a lifetime. A land and cruise tour around Alaska. Starting in Fairbanks, spending several days in Denali National Park, and then ending the trip with a 7 day cruise. Visiting glaciers, and the towns of Skagway, Juneau, Ketchican, and making it into the gold country of Canada's Yukon Territory gave me a chance to capture "The … [Read more...]
