It was a welcome break in the weather Sunday so I decided to take a road trip down to Essex, Connecticut, to see if I could find some Eagles. Well known for it's Eagle Festival, and Eagle Watch boat tours, the open water of the Connecticut River around Essex is a great place to see if you can spot our national bird and symbol of the United States. After scanning the … [Read more...]

The beauty of ice crystals
I hate ice! Except for when they are in a nice beverage. I have always hated ice. My mother tried to make me ice skate. Sorry mom, after 50 years, I still can't ice skate. My brother took my ice fishing. He caught all the fish. My roof and gutters are filled with ice. It's even making icicles 8 feet tall and reaching the ground. I think that's the only reason that the … [Read more...]
Winter beauty at East Rock
I was covering our latest snowstorm for work a couple of days ago, this time along the shoreline of Connecticut. A quick "high impact" storm to say the least, but it still managed to "dump on us" a lot more aggravation for this winter. As I was heading up I-91 back toward Hartford, the sun started to peak through the clouds and lit up the East Rock Park, Soldiers and Sailors … [Read more...]
January’s winter storm remembered
It has only been a few days since the record setting snow storm buffeted Connecticut, setting new snowfall totals that reached well over 20 inches. At my house I recorded a whopping 27 inches snowfall within 15 hours time. The next day, as all good photographers do, is to go out and record what has fallen. Never fear, CtCameraEye was out there. Here's is what I captured in … [Read more...]

I have always looked and the the moon with awe, but … [Read more...]
Mystery of Seagull #254 Solved
Several postings ago I showed you pictures of tagged seagull that I saw in New Haven. After some research, I shot off a e-mail to Dan Clark, the Director of the Natural Resources Section of the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation and asked for his help. Dan got back to me acknowledging that the gull was part of their tagging program and gave me some … [Read more...]
Lunar images start off 2011
It was a perfect night to go out and capture a magnificent two day old cresent moon setting in the west. Clear, dry, almost cloudless skies lured me outside into 20 degree temps to start my astro imaging for 2011. I am sure glad I did! Here is a colorful wide angle image of the setting moon, within an hour after the sun had set. And now a closer look at two day old … [Read more...]
Quinnipiac University Wind Garden
After driving up and down I-91 almost every other day and noticing bright reflections coming from atop a hill in Hamden, I finally decided to take a road trip over the weekend to check out what I was seeing. Little did I know that a wonderful surprise awaited me atop Quinnipiac University's 250 acre York Hill Campus, located at 305 Sherman Ave in Hamden. At the highest … [Read more...]
