After a dissapointing night Saturday night trying to get a 21 hour moon, I went out again Sunday night to capture a 5% moon. This time I was in Marlborough, Connecticut, geared up again to do battle to try to find Luna. It was nice and clear until about a half an hour after sunset. Then a major cloud bank started moving in from the northwest. I immediately went into a “clear out the clouds dance”, in which the bats who were flying around me certainly thought was amusing. It worked, as little holes in the clouds appeared. I went ahead and managed to get a few shots off just as the moon sunk into the trees. Here’s what I got through the thin layer of clouds in the area.
After I got home I realized I was a little dissapointed, in not seeing Mercury and Pleiades. As I turned on the television to relax a little, I finally figured out why my little dance didn’t work. I was not “Dancing with the Stars“, but “Dancing with the Clouds”. Hope you enjoy the picture!
