Called, ” The Largest Ghost town in America”, Jerome is located at 5000 feet above sea level on top of Mingus Mountain. Founded in 1876 Jerome sits above what used to be the largest copper mine in the United States. Now, Jerome is a artistic community and a tourist stop for thousands of people every year.
As part of a senic overlook before you get into town this plaque describes the history of the town on the side of the mountain. A must stop before you get to far into “copper country”.
Filled with surprises around every corner, Jerome is a laid back tourist friendly unique backdrop to Arizona history. You can easily spend a day exploring the town.
After hiking up and down the streets of Jerome, The Haunted Hamburger is the place to kick back, brush the dust off your pants, and have a world class burger. Many varities, any way you want it, comes with a price that won’t kill your pocket, and a self serve fix-in’s bar to make it perfectly the way you like it. Expect to wait for a seat. Oh yea, they do have a great menu other than burgers.
Now after your done with your meal, take advantage of a million dollar view off of the porch over looking Verde Valley. A $7.00 burger and a million dollar view. Believe me when I say this is the one of the best places I have ever been for a burger, the local company, local history, and vistas you will not believe!
